Paid Off Royally

The probability of flopping a royal flush in a random Hold 'Em hand is 1/649,740. People play for years and never even hit a royal on the turn or the river, so to flop one is sweet. And, that's just what I did last night.

While it's nice to get paid off with poker's ultimate hand, online poker has shown me one thing more than anything else; its poker tables are populated mostly by antisocial dicks. Seriously, in a live game at real casino, even the table doosh will get congratulated for making a great hand. I've never hit a royal flush online and gotten any kind of positive comment. Anyway, can't complain much about taking a huge pot off a total fish, so...

Oh well, I guess poker's only a social game when you can look your opponents in their eyes.

  1. Jersey just legalized online gambling, you should see if there are any VPNs you can connect to over there.

Does the video poker have that same type of rigging as slots do where the house has a ridiculous advantage or is it all average chance? I know i watched the modern marvels on Vegas, I just don't remember that ever being talked about. I mean how do the feds ensure that those video poker units are actually using the same odds as if you were sitting at a table.

    1. I actually have no problems playing online here in Japan at any of the big sites.

The poker machines deal cards based on a random number generator and have to comply with state gaming laws. I hate the machines, personally. But, old farts and drunks love 'em.
