Still Doin' it in Tokyo

I let this blog go about a year ago because I started a self-hosted one up. That one's still going (www.earthdenizen.net), but for whatever reason, I feel like I can be a lot freer here with my ramblings so here I post...

So, anyway... I'm back in Tokyo (have been since last summer) and working for myself. Still playing a lot of online poker and continuing to run up the bankroll. The best thing I can say for myself, however, is that I've got a serious hard-on for self improvement.

Physically: Running 8-15 km four times a week and eating healthy. Still drinking, though. That won't change.

Mentally: Trying to be as honest with myself and everyone else as possible. Studying General Relativity at the moment to not only keep up my mathematical kung fu, but to increase my physics knowledge overall.

Basically, I'm semi-retired (as my friend J.C. puts it); I'm borrowing from my future retirement so that I can enjoy some of it now while I'm still young enough to kick ass. This means I'll probably work part-time for the rest of my life, but I'm pretty sure I'm happier working part-time than I would be trying to fill endless empty days when I'm well past my prime.

And so it goes...

  1. Happy to hear you're still rollin' with it by your own rules, friend. And self-improvement is a damn fine thing.

    1. Thanks. I actually ended up going to university while I was on a self-improvement kick. Wish it had stayed with me until finishing a PhD, but oh well... Never to late to get things done.

  2. I am with you on the drinking/exercise balance. My method is drink better booze, but less of it.

    1. Haha, I'm still doing the cheap stuff. Sometimes I think of kilometers run in terms of allowable beer intake...
